TERRY O’NEILL

Renowned for his iconic celebrity portraits and for capturing the essence of the swinging sixties, Terry O’Neill remains one of the most revered and collected photographers, standing as a defining force in modern pop culture.

From Brigitte Bardot to Kate Moss, and from Frank Sinatra to Mick Jagger, he photographed countless stars, often before they reached the pinnacle of fame. Amidst their ascent, O’Neill wielded his exceptional talent to portray their raw humanity, undeniable charisma and dazzling Hollywood glamor, in a way that "...no other photographer could.", according to Elton John. His work uniquely blends candidness with sophistication, offering viewers a rare glimpse into a once ultra-exclusive world.

Upcoming Documentary: "Iconic: The Life and Work of Terry O'Neill"

Now, his remarkable career will be the focus of the upcoming feature-length documentary "Iconic: The Life and Work of Terry O'Neill", directed by British filmmaker Oliver Murray. Murray's fascination for O’Neill’s story was ignited during an interview conducted for a previous docu-series, two years before the photographer’s passing in 2019. This new film will feature never-before-heard recordings of him, offering an intimate recounting of his life and career from his own perspective.

Past Exhibitions: "Stars" at Fotografiska Museum

Last summer, the Fotografiska Museum in New York City hosted "Stars", an exhibition showcasing over a hundred of O'Neill's photographs - a true time capsule of elegance and authenticity. Portraits of icons like Audrey Hepburn and Faye Dunaway underscored the timeless relevance of his work, affirming the artist's enduring impact on the world of photography.
