Robert Farber: MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST

“Robert sees the world through the eyes of a romantic and he communicates by means of soft movement, flowing shapes and pure nature. I usually associate Robert’s images with romantic symbolism, more in keeping with the traditions of my own generation- antique pillars, steps, soft veils.”
Horst P. Horst

OUR NOTES ABOUT ROBERT FARBER:

Robert Farber’s photography practice has always been focused on the medium as an art. His soft and gracious style has brought many commercial projects along his 50 years career.

Serendipity, life events, and reinvention have done the rest. The intervention of Jaqueline Kennedy and a few disasters have shaped Farber’s impressive collection of images that are been collected around the world.

Robert Farber is an American photographer who gained recognition in the New York fashion industry during the early 1970s. Best known for his sensual depictions of the female form, his work blurs the lines between editorial and fine art photography, as he commonly evokes a stylized painterly quality within his photos.

Having a background in marketing and business, Farber’s work is commercially accessibly while still retaining its own distinctive artistry. His elevated style of creating commercial fashion imagery has led him to work with major clients like Dior, Saks and Bloomingdales. His photographs have appeared in publications from Vanity Fair and Vogue to GQ, Esquire and even Playboy.

Over the course of his impressive career, Farber has created a wide breadth of work utilizing different techniques and approaches to creating photographs. Additionally, he has published a series of successful photography books while having his work exhibited internationally over the past five decades.
