The cover of my book forever young. The American flag is from my point of view the most beautiful flag ever. When I saw this one in the lobby of the boxing hall in L.A. I of course immediately thought about the famous flag by Jasper Johns. Nearly the same faded colours and same wrinkles. The American flag as John says, “is something the mind already knows.” The full history and the whole culture of a country are expressed at first sight by a flag on a coloured canvas. A flag is certainly the strongest abstract painting and abstract work evoking the soul of a whole country.
