Not Decoration. Curation.
Most interiors are designed. The most compelling interiors are curated.
At The Selects Gallery, we bring a distinctly French, fashion-informed perspective to photography, one rooted in composition, narrative, and cultural relevance.
Our works are not selected to “match” a space. They are chosen to elevate it.
Because the right image doesn’t fill a wall, it defines the room.

Why Fashion Photography Transforms a Room
Fashion photographers possess a uniquely trained eye, one shaped by precision, direction and visual storytelling.
They compose images with the same rigor applied to couture: light is controlled, movement is intentional and every element serves the frame.
When brought into an interior, that visual discipline changes the way the room is experienced.
The photograph introduces narrative, tension and presence, creating a focal point that gives the surrounding architecture and furnishings greater definition.
A choreographed visual language, brought into the room.
A PARTNER IN THE DESIGN PROCESS

Private Residence, New York
Context
A formally proportioned living space within a landmark Robert A.M. Stern residence, requiring a work that could hold its own against the architecture without competing with it.
Approach
We selected L'Escalier, Naples (1999) by André Carrara — a photograph that transforms an everyday Neapolitan staircase into a composition of lines, light, and shadow. Its discipline and restraint made it a natural counterpart to Stern's own architectural philosophy.
Execution
Acrylic mounting with museum-grade plexi to respond to natural light conditions. The work was installed to respond to the residence's vertical proportions, allowing Carrara's rhythm and structure to enter into quiet dialogue with the surrounding space.
Result
The piece anchors the room with quiet authority, transforming the space from composed to curated. Placed within a home designed by one of America's foremost architects, the photograph becomes more than an image of a staircase. It becomes a reflection on architecture itself — on the beauty of spaces designed, above all, to be lived in.
