HOW TO CREATE A GALLERY WALL

A Gallery wall is an easy way to add character to any living space. However, hanging and curating a gallery wall can be daunting. So, we've created a step by step guide on how to assemble your very own gallery wall.

Step one, curate. There are a few ways this step can be done. If you already have a curated collection skip to step two. If not, no worries. There are ways to achieve a beautiful gallery wall without a previous collection of art. First, we would recommend creating a mood board to figure out the general vibe you want your wall to look like. You can create a moodboard physically or create one digitally using sites like Pinterest, or Mural.

Next, you want to curate your pieces for your wall. You can use personal photos, photos found online, or pieces of art you like. Our biggest tip is to allow the pieces of art to come to you. The best pieces you can find are ones that hold a sentimental value. These pieces can remind you of your travels, hobbies, favorite musicians, or life experiences. You want to take your time for this step and make sure every piece you are collecting sparks joy. This way, you can take your gallery wall with you when going from home to home without getting sick of it.

The next step is framing.  Framing can be a difficult subject to talk about because many people opt for white plastic frames without thinking of the importance of framing. To add personality to your wall, try to mox high end frames and vintage frames. Make sure you mix up the sizes, diversity is what we're going for! As for the colors of the frame, more is more. Different colored frames allow the gallery wall to be a lot more interesting.

Finally, Step three, Assemble. To assemble your gallery wall, remember that messy is good. We know that may sound a little crazy, but by assembling your gallery wall in a manner that is “Chaotic” or “unorganized” it allows for contrast between your pieces of art. First, Create a plan for where your pieces will go. Don't start knocking nails in your wall. You want to make sure that you are complementing your pieces and have a general plan. This part is completely up to you. That is what is so beautiful about having a gallery wall, it is completely unique and each wall is different. I would suggest taking a photo of your wall and playing around with placements of your art in photoshop. Once you have your plan, take a pencil and lightly mark out the spots where you want to place your nails.  When you have your layout, you can begin to hammer nails into the wall and assemble your pieces!

A gallery wall allows you to add a different feel to any room and is a great way to add personality to your living space. By having pieces that are important to you, you will never get sick of your wall!
