This picture was shot in Lagos at Lasalvy studios, featuring dancer, actor and director Paolo Sisiano. Adebayo was compelled to capture Sisiano’s talents through his lens after he had seen videos of him dancing online, he shares “I needed to capture that, I just had to.” This image portrays a moment of tension and pause in movement and tension. The strength and poise of the muscles of the back and shoulders is evident and contrasted against the graceful flow of the long black skirt covering the lower body. This series was inspired by the black and white stylings of 20th century fashion photographer, Richard Avedon, creating images with a classic ambiance yet infused with a theatrical quality.
