This image of model Tatjana Patitz, who is one of the "big five" supermodels who appeared in the music video "Freedom! '90" by George Michael, was taken in Los Angeles in 1989. It is part of a series shot by Antoine Verglas very early on in his career for Elle France, featuring the most famous models of the time in the confidential setting of their own apartment.
By the end of the 80’s, when this portrait was taken, Patitz's career escalated and she was credited with expanding ideals of female beauty and Patitz graced the covers of international high gloss magazines.
The photoshoot took place in her apartment in Pacific Palisades in LA. The documentary-like approach mixed with the photographer’s unique personality that makes anyone at ease and feel very special, gives this photograph sens of realism and a unique intimate and sensual feel which has become known as the “Verglas Signature”.
