Photographed in Antibes on the French Riviera in 1976, Eden-Roc Pool by Slim Aarons captures the legendary seawater swimming pool of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, one of the most iconic destinations on the Mediterranean coast. Carved into the rocky cliffs of Cap d'Antibes, the pool became a symbol of Riviera glamour, attracting Hollywood stars, European aristocracy, and the international jet set.
Taken from an elevated vantage point, the photograph reveals the remarkable setting where architecture meets the Mediterranean Sea. The emerald-green waters of the pool contrast with the deep blue sea, rugged limestone cliffs, and elegant white façade of the hotel. Swimmers, sunbathers, and guests enjoying the terraces bring the scene to life, while the standing figure at the near edge of the pool and the sunbather reclining beside him create a sense of movement and spontaneity.
