PHOTOGRAPHER: ROSE HARTMAN
Andy Warhol, Studio 54, 1977
“Andy Warhol loved to go to Studio 54 and helped publicize it as everyone wanted to talk to him. He barely spoke and would just observe. He also carried a little camera.”
Andy Warhol was one of the regulars at Studio 54and even had his 50th birthday there.
Thanks to her unique wit, Rose has the ability to capture that decisive moment of perfect composition and unguarded presence before getting noticed by the subjects.
This collection of photographs at Studio 54 by Rose Hartman are some of the most defining images of the late 70’s in New York City. By capturing the most iconic celebrities, in the most iconic of all nightclubs and making this icon-ness palpable forever, Rose contributes to the cultural consciousness and collective mystification of the era.
