Leading the procession, a waiter in a white jacket balances a platter featuring a roasted pheasant, while his colleagues follow in elegant red and black formal attire.

The photograph's playful composition transforms a winter landscape into an almost surreal scene of luxury and service. Against a backdrop of pristine snow, evergreen trees, and distant mountain peaks, the waiters' formal uniforms and carefully presented refreshments create a delightful contrast with their unconventional mode of transportation. The vivid red jacket, theatrical arrangement of figures, and remarkable attention to detail lend the image a cinematic quality, perfectly capturing Aarons' signature sense of humor.

At a time when Alpine resorts were becoming fashionable playgrounds for international society, skiing was as much about the lifestyle surrounding the sport as the sport itself. Through Aarons' distinctive eye, Skiing Waiters offers a witty celebration of this golden age of winter glamour, when even the simplest pleasures could become extraordinary expressions of elegance and hospitality. Both whimsical and sophisticated, the photograph embodies the extravagance, charm, and playful spirit of midcentury luxury.

C-Type Print
Limited edition of 150
Archive Bestseller | Approaching the Next Edition Price
Estate stamped, hand numbered, with an embossed Slim Aarons signature stamp
Printed in London, with preparation managed through the Getty Images Hulton Archive
Supplied with a certificate of authenticity and an information label carrying the title, date, caption and Getty Images ID

Size reflects paper size; paper size differs from image size.

10” x 10”
12” x 12”
16” x 16”
20” x 20”
30” x 30”
40” x 40”
50” x 50”

Larger exceptional formats and custom sizes available upon request at contact@theselectsgallery.com.
